A PLACE TO DISCOVER
A little closer
to Southold.
One Woman is a women-owned North Fork winery and distillery. Its red-shingled tasting-room building provides a distinctive landmark for visitors.
THE STORY BEHIND THE PLACE
History & heritage
Claudia Purita grew up on her family’s farm in Calabria, Italy, before moving to Long Island and working in restaurants. She later bought a former potato and melon farm in Southold, protected it through the sale of development rights, hand-planted vines and adapted the existing potato barns.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The vineyard experience
The property combines a working farm, winery and tasting room with outdoor patio and picnic-area seating. The visitor policy limits groups to six, including children and designated drivers, so it is better suited to smaller parties than bus tours.
THE WINES
A sense of their style
The winery describes its wines as estate-grown and produced, with sustainability central to its farming. Grüner Veltliner is one documented variety, including an oak-aged reserve expression; current tasting selections should be confirmed with staff.
Styles describe the producer’s range, not a live tasting menu or inventory. Offerings change by vintage and season.
